Dusting life under the rug. It was a Valerie hobby, one you either embraced or let be, loved or hated and nothing in-between. Despite the gross simplicity of it all, it was still almost sensible - in the way that, by letting it go, the issue won't come up again for days, months, maybe years. But, on the other hand, such issues can escalate, transpire and elevate into something hideously vicious, spawning devil's life into something that could have been solved with compromise - not ignorance.
A tall girl silently swept up the corridor's stairway, the ends of her shoes brushing seamlessly upon the wooden work. The grain was thick and evident against her fingertips - an old habit long put under nicety before her trip to Hogwarts. It was deemed a flaw, to have sensitive fingertips. It made you immensely vulnerable.
Lauren Valerie was different - as much as neither she nor anyone mentioned it. The simple smile that had lined her face a day before break had diminished into the cold, stoic exterior. At once, she was peaceful and chaotic, her eyes no longer filled with a naive intelligence. Now, they haunted with need, the pupils dark voids of such empty, frosted significance it left an onlooker in chills. The mind was still there, feathering through in the green depth's wise perception - but it was no longer naive, no longer innocent.
If it had ever been.
Without much care or thinking, the streaked-haired girl spoke softly - for the first time in days - to give a simple murmur of thought, slipping outside before the door could shut quietly behind her. Her hand stalled, at the sight of a many people lingering outside. She peeked her head inside again before sollowing. The senior made her way out of the school, no longer in her unusual uniform and headed off threw the sea of people. Many heads turned to her, seeing not only the what they see as strange outfit - but she was alone. In this mass sea of people, she was the only one by herself. Normally, Lauren couldn't bother going outside if so many people where there - but something had happened to her since break.
She may have changed, but she had never been, and would never be, heartless.
Some things, just became too sweet for a pallet.
She made her way to the lawns, almost forgetting about the people surrounding her. Upon reaching the lawns Lauren found her feet leading her over to a small tree. Smirking to herself, the silent girl took a seat under the shade, her eyes dancing upon the crystal blue sky.
